Cat Weight Chart: Is Your Cat a Healthy Weight?
Run your hands along your cat's sides. What do you feel?

Nothing you enter is uploaded — the three questions and the scoring run on this page. The scale behind them is WSAVA's published 9-point Body Condition Score chart for cats, the same system used in general veterinary practice. A hands-on exam from a vet is still more accurate than any self-check — treat this as a starting point for a conversation, not a diagnosis.
How the scale works
WSAVA's 9-point Body Condition Score
The checker above runs the same three-way split WSAVA prints on its own chart.
| BCS | Band |
|---|---|
| 1–4 / 9 | Under ideal |
| 5–6 / 9 | Ideal |
| 7–9 / 9 | Over ideal |
WSAVA scores body condition from how the ribs feel, whether a waist is visible from above, and whether the belly tucks up behind the ribs from the side — the exact three checks the tool above walks through, one at a time. A score of 6 can be perfectly normal for an older cat, per WSAVA's own chart note.

A body condition score tells you the direction to go. These two tools do the math for getting there.
FAQ
Cat weight, answered
There's no single number — a healthy weight depends on frame size, so vets score it on a 9-point Body Condition Score (BCS) instead of a flat figure. WSAVA's published cat BCS chart groups scores 1–4 as under ideal, 5–6 as ideal, and 7–9 as over ideal, based on how easily you can feel the ribs and spot a waist. The checker above walks through the same three checks and estimates where your cat lands.

That 5 a.m. yowl by the bowl? Don't guess — ask
Whatever the result above was, the next loud meow doesn't have to be a mystery. Cat Translator records the sound and reads back a playful line in seconds instead of leaving you to guess what the demand was about.
