A small app for a big question
Your cat is clearly telling you something. Cat Translator gives you a fun answer.
Cat Translator is an independent iPhone app. You record a meow, purr or hiss, and it hands back a short, playful line in your cat's imagined voice.
It exists for one relatable moment: the stare, the meow, the “what do you want?”. We can't answer that for real — nobody can — so we made the guessing more fun.
On the App Store the app is listed as PetTalk — Pet Translator, because the same app also reads dogs. It's free, needs an iPhone on iOS 16 or newer, and the sound analysis runs on the device.
Alongside the app, this site publishes plain-language guides on cat sounds and body language, written for owners who are curious rather than worried.
Just for fun
Cat Translator is made for entertainment and curiosity. Its “translations” are playful interpretations, not a factual account of what your cat is thinking. It does not provide veterinary, medical or behavioural advice — if you have concerns about your cat's health or behaviour, please talk to a licensed veterinarian.
